About xsibility

We make digital things work for everyone

xsibility is a digital accessibility firm. We audit and remediate websites, apps and documents so people with disabilities can use them — and so our clients can show, with evidence, that they comply with the law.

Why we exist

A blind resident trying to pay a water bill. A deaf student watching an uncaptioned lecture. A patient with tremors who can’t use a date picker to book an appointment. A low-vision retiree who can’t read a gray-on-white insurance form. Every one of those barriers is avoidable, and most take hours — not months — to fix.

We started xsibility because the market was split between expensive enterprise consultancies and “one line of code” overlays that don’t work. We wanted to offer the rigor of the first at a price that cities, school districts, clinics and growing businesses can afford.

How we work

  • People test, tools assist. Every audit and every remediated document is verified by a specialist using screen readers, keyboards and magnification.
  • Fix the source. We fix templates, components and document templates so accessibility scales, instead of patching pages one by one.
  • Honest reporting. Our reports say exactly what was tested and what was found. We’d rather tell you “partially conforms” than sell you a certificate.
  • No overlays. We don’t sell them, resell them or recommend them. Here’s why.
  • Plain English. Legal and technical findings written so executives, developers and content editors can all act on them.

Who we are

xsibility is a venture of two operating companies:

Our team combines accessibility testers, front-end developers, document remediation specialists and compliance consultants. Specialists use NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack every day, and we work with people with disabilities to validate our testing.

Where we work

  • Chicago, Illinois — client services, consulting and US project management.
  • Chandigarh, India — testing, development and our document remediation center, giving US clients extended working hours and fast turnaround on large document volumes.

We serve clients across the United States, and companies selling into the European Union.

Standards we work to

WCAG 2.2 Level AA (and 2.1 AA where regulations require it) · PDF/UA-1 (ISO 14289-1) and the Matterhorn Protocol · the Revised Section 508 Standards · EN 301 549 · WAI-ARIA Authoring Practices.

Our own website

We hold this site to the same standard we hold our clients’. It’s built with semantic HTML, self-hosted fonts and minimal JavaScript; it works without JavaScript; it respects your color-scheme, contrast and motion preferences; and it keeps analytics off unless you opt in. Read our accessibility statement and tell us if anything doesn’t work for you.
